Mary Slavik

Mary Slavik, 92, of Champion Twp. passed away 12:55 PM Aug. 16, 2010 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She was born Dec. 4, 1917 in Daisytown, PA the daughter of Walter and Mary (Ludna) Magera. A Warren area resident for most of her life, Mary was a devoted homemaker and a long time member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, OCA. She enjoyed cooking and attending horse shows watching her grandson perform with his horses. Her beloved husband John W. Slavik whom she married Oct. 30, 1938 preceded her in death April 24, 1998. She also was preceded in death by 2 sisters Kathryn Geddes, Helen Poprik and by a brother Stephen Magera. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Nancy Shafer, grandson Gregory Shafer and wife Lotta , great grandchildren Hannah and Jeremiah all of Champion, and a niece Linda Geddes of Clancy, Montana. The Rev. Jonathan Cholcher conducted a private funeral service Wednesday Aug. 25, 2010 at Roberts-Clark Chapel. Interment was in Champion Twp. Cemetery. The family suggests material contributions be made to the Champion Police Dept. or to the Champion Firefighters Assoc.
