Rockville Centre, NY A memorial mass will be held 11 AM Friday in Sts. Peter and Paul's Byzantine Catholic Church for Mary Taipale, 88, of New York, formerly of Warren, who passed away Saturday at her home. Mary was born April 28, 1921 in Pennsylvania the daughter of Nicholas and Anna (Dubetsky) Kropolinsky. She was both a homemaker, and worked full time from 1959 until she retired in 1988, as a department manager at Gimbel's on Long Island. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. At the age of 11, after the death of her mother, Mary assumed the role of matriarch of the family from 1932 to the mid 1950's, raising her four brothers and sister. She continued her role as matriarch even after the death of her father in 1941. This is where she developed her loving and caring qualities. Mary was a former member of Sts. Peter and Paul's Church. Her husband Tarmo A. Taipale whom she married July 22, 1948, passed away July 28, 2009. Tarmo was a graduate of Warren Harding High School class of 1941 and a WWII veteran. Mary and Tarmo leave their two daughters; Joanna King and her husband Joseph of New York City, and Karen Brendle and her husband Glenn of Gap, PA, two grandchildren; Anna Brendle of Newport Beach, CA, and Ian Brendle of Strasburg, PA, one sister; Helen Christin of Warren, and one brother; John Kropolinsky and his wife Gerry of North Benton. Besides her husband and parents, Mary is preceded in death by three brothers; Al Kropolinsky, Nick Koplin, and Joe Koplin. Mary and Tarmo will be laid to rest together in Sts. Peter and Paul's Cemetery in Lordstown. In lieu of flowers the family requests material tributes take the form of donations "In Memory of Mary A.
