Mary V. Whitman

Mary V. Whitman, 83, of Warren died 3:46 PM Tuesday July 14, 2009 at St. Josephs Health Care Center of congestive heart failure. She was born May 18, 1926 in Slovan, PA the daughter of Peter and Dorothy (Hayden) Vranjes. Mary graduated from High School in Pennsylvania and received an associate's degree from the Pittsburgh Business College. She worked as a bookkeeper in Pittsburgh before coming to the Warren area in 1949 and worked at Packard Electric for 2 years before starting a family. She was a long-time member of the New Hope Free Methodist Church of Warren where she served as church auditor and was active in many church activities including the child care ministries. Her husband, Floyd E. Whitman whom she married June 17, 1950 preceded her in death Aug. 7, 1972. She also was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers Nick, Stephen, and Milan Vranjes. She will be sadly missed by her children David L. Whitman of Warren, Deanna W. Bollas of Howland, Daniel L. Whitman of Warren, 2 grandsons Michael W. Bollas and David A. Bollas both of Howland, and a brother George (Ruth) Vranjes of West Virginia. Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday July 18, 2009 at the New Hope Free Methodist Church 2250 Tod Ave. NW Warren, OH 44485. Pastor Ebenezer Appiagyei will officiate. Friends will be received from 6-8 Friday at Roberts-Clark Chapel and for 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park. The family requests memorial donations be made to the New Hope Free Methodist Church.
