Mary Virginia Hanshaw

Mary Virginia Hanshaw, age 63 of Niles, Ohio died on May 14, 2015 at 11:12 PM at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. She was born on June 6, 1951 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of the late Perry and Juanita Stacey Nickell. Mrs. Hanshaw worked for Dinesol Plastics for 10 years in quality control. In her spare time, Mary loved to host home interior parties and she was an Avon dealer. She also like to paint. But, her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Charrisse Mackey Munion of Niles, her son, Shawn Hanshaw, Sr. with whom she made her home; ten grandchildren, Adam R. Russo, Ashley, Amber, and Andrea Munion, Tyler, Paige, Maria, Tori, Brayden, and Shawn Hanshaw, Jr.; and nine great-grandchildren, Andrew, Aria, Ayden, Madilynn, Mayson, Maddyx, Peyton, Kylee, and Cadence. Also surviving is her brother, Glenn Wayne Nickell of Indiana. Other than her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cecil Hanshaw on May 19, 2014, whom she was united in marriage in Girard, Ohio on May 8, 1985; and one brother, Sherman Nickell. Funeral services will be held at the Lane Family Funeral Homes-Niles Chapel on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM, where Pastor Darrell Cline will celebrate Mary's life. Friends and family may visit from 5-7 PM, Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the funeral home. Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 9:30 AM in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help defray costs of the funeral.
