Maude Gertrude Williamson

Maude Gertrude Williamson, 91 of Brookfield passed away Saturday September 4, 2010 at UPMC Horizon in Greenville, PA. Born in Somerton, Ohio on July 1, 1919, Gertrude is the daughter of the late John Frederick and Eleanor Bircher Applegate Thornberry. Moving to the area in 1949, Gertrude worked as a secretary for Ohio Power Company. She was a long time member of Hermitage Church of Christ where she was active in many of the churches activities. She was the secretary for the Brook Village Seniors, enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, writing letters to people around the world and grading Bible students. Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Many who know Mrs. Williamson would say she was known for her delicious pies. She married her husband, William Raymond Williamson on November 29, 1947 in Marietta, Ohio. Together they shared 47 years of marriage and their four children by whom she is survived; David (Nancy) Williamson of Austintown, Bradley (Deborah) Williamson of Hubbard, Brian (Katie) Williamson of Lake Angelus, Michigan, and Edwin Williamson of Brookfield. Also surviving Gertrude are four grandchildren; Jennifer, David, Melanie, and Andrew; Great grandchildren Ella, Emilie, and Luke. She was preceded in death by her husband William, her parents, 5 brothers; Clyde, Francis, Hobart, Wilbur, and Harold; and 4 sisters, Edith, Verna, Mary, and Mable. Funeral services will be held 11am Tuesday September 7, 2010 at Madasz Funeral Chapel, Brookfield. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Hermitage.
