Melvin A. Wolf, 85, of both Warren and West Palm Beach, FL died Thursday morning, April 19, 2007 at 5:00AM in the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center. Born September 12, 1921 in Romania, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Engel) Wolf. Melvin was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force during WWII serving from 1942 until 1946. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the United States Army, Melvin returned to Cleveland. In 1962 he moved to Canfield where he was a resident until 1991. Mr. Wolf moved to the Warren area in 1991 until relocating to West Palm Beach, FL in 1997. He and his wife have spent the last ten years between their residences in Florida and Ohio. He and his wife Thelma owned and operated the United Salvage Company in Youngstown until 1971. Mr. Wolf retired from Sandel Loan Company in Youngstown in 1987. He also worked as a pawn broker for most of his life. Melvin was a 30-year long member of the Beth Israel Temple in Warren and a past-president, a past member of the Ohev Tedzek Synagogue in Youngstown, he was an associate member of Hadassah, served on the ritual and cemetery committees at Beth Israel Temple, was a member of the Chevra Kadisha for 28 years, and taught Yiddish in Mahoning County for 10 years. Melvin was a caring man with many dear friends. He volunteered his time and talents at the juvenile detention home in Youngstown and was the recipient of the Elliott P. Nils Award for volunteer of the year. Most of all Melvin was devoted to his family. Melvin will be dearly missed by his loving wife Thelma (Hoffman) Wolf whom he married May 12, 1963. Together they have shared 43 years of marriage. Melvin has three children, Kenneth Wolf of Athens, PA, Sherrie J. Abril of Richmond Heights, OH, and Elliott Wolf and his wife Marcia Roth of Chapel Hill, NC, and six grandchildren, Jonathan and Adam Wolf, Joshua and Jordan Abril, and Ariel Rebecca and Hannah Wolf. He is also survived by a brother Leonard Wolf of New York, NY and a sister Shirly Herskovitz of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. A funeral service will be held Sunday, April 22, 2007 at 11:00AM at the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel where friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be held in the Beth Israel Cemetery.
