Michael A. Zolnier

Michael A. Zolnier of Masury, Ohio, passed away early Friday morning May 13, 2011 at 4:30 AM at the Sharon Regional Hospital. He was 89 years old. He was born on Christmas Day, 1921 in Farrell, PA to Antoni and Telka (Adamski) Zolinerczyk. Mike attended Farrell Schools and then went on to marry Pearl M. Kovach on April 26, 1947, together they shared more than sixty-three years of marriage and their four children. Mike had worked as a Tool and Die Maker at Westinghouse before his retirement in 1985. He was a member of St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Masury and was a Fourth Degree Member of the Masury Knights of Columbus Council #3984. In his free time he enjoyed playing the lottery and going dancing with his wife Pearl. He is survived by his children Thomas Zolnier his wife Tamara and her sons Robert and Steven Tallo, Kenneth Zolnier and his wife Stacy all of Masury, OH, son James Zolnier and his wife Kathy of San Ramon, CA, and daughter Patricia True and her husband Rodney of Green Oaks, IL; nine grandchildren Kevin, Stephen, Michael, Casey, Kendal, and Kelsey Zolnier, Steven, Kelly, and Doug True; and her three great-grandchildren Ryan, Katelyn, and Mason Zolnier. Mike was preceded in death by his wife Pearl on December 2, 2010, parents, his grandson Mathew Zolnier, four brothers Stanley, Dan, Joe, Andrew “Chicken” Zolnier, and by his two sisters Frances Zolnier and Henrietta “Hank” Stapinski. Calling hours for friends will be held on Sunday evening May 15, 2011 from 5-7:00 PM at the Madasz Funeral Chapel in Brookfield, OH. Closing prayers will begin at 9:15AM on Monday morning May 16, 2011 at the funeral home followed by a celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial which will begin at 10:00AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, St. Bernadette's Catholic Church at 7808 Locust Street Masury, OH 44438, with Rev. Frank Zanni as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Brookfield Township Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests that any contributions be made to St. Jude’s Research Center.
