Michael Bachick, Jr. of 1806 Custer-Orangeville Rd., Masury, Ohio, died on Tuesday (10-23-2007) in O’Brien’s Memorial Nursing Home following a brief illness. He was 81. Mr. Bachick was born in Mayberry, West Virginia on July 22, 1926, a son of Michael and Elizabeth (Paterchak) Bachick, Sr. After attending Brookfield High School, Michael went on to serve our country in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman Second Class during WWII. His decorations and citations include: the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal. Mr. Bachick retired from Sharon Steel in 1974 after 32 years as a Ram Driver. He also worked as a maintenance man for the Hickory Plaza and he was handy enough to repair small engines. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sharon, Pennsylvania; member the Brookfield Conservation Club; former member of the VFW Post #1338, Sharon; and a past volunteer for the Brookfield Fire Dept. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars, woodworking, riding his golf cart around the neighborhood, and helping everyone. Survivors include: his wife, Clara W. Wozniak, whom he married June 16, 1951; his siblings, Elizabeth Shimmon, San Jose, CA, Magdalene Carson & her husband Bob, Sharon, PA, Lilly Ault, San Jose, CA, Hannah Hancock & her husband Jack, Masury, OH, Rosemarie Rodgers & her husband Bob, Brookfield, OH, and John Bachick, Austin, TX; and lots of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his brother, Joseph Bachick; and by his sister, Margaret Chandick. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Rev. Stanley Swacha, Pastor. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-7 PM at the Madasz Funeral Chapel, Brookfield. Entombment will be in St. Rose Catholic Cemetery with full military honors.
