Michael E. "Jack" Moran, 86 of Warren, died at 5:50 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2013, at Gillette Nursing Home. He was born September 6, 1927 in Coalton, West Virginia the son of the late Elwin Michael and Helen Elizabeth Scott Moran. He had been a Trumbull county resident since 1953. Jack was a 1946 graduate of Coalton High School, after which he served in the Army in Japan during the latter part of World War II. He retired from Packard Electric in 1982 as a maintenance supervisor. Jack was an avid fisherman and hunter and especially enjoyed deer and turkey hunting. He enjoyed fishing in Canada and loved vacationing with his wife and family in Florida and Canada. He was an accomplished swimmer and passed that on to his grandson. Jack was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parrish (SS. Cyril and Methodius Church). He was a member of VFW Post No. 1090 in Warren, VFW Post No. 5583 in Coalton and American Legion Post No. 29 in Elkins. He is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Gloria E. Zirkle Moran, whom he married March 19, 1947; one daughter, M. Patricia Rock of Oshkosh, Wisc.; one granddaughter, Lisa Marie Rock of Grays Lake, Ill; one grandson, David Brian Rock of Warren and four great grandchildren, Erika Rock, Alex Rock, Allison Rock and Danny Rock. Two nephews, James (Donna) Kittle and Michael (Donna) Kittle; one niece, Cathy (Patrick) Norton and numerous relatives and friends in West Virginia also survive. Besides his parents, one son, Danny Moran died in infancy and his son-in-law, John D. Rock; one brother, Thomas Moran and two sisters, Mary Margaret Kittle and Anne Moran all have preceded him in death. The family wants to express heartfelt thanks to the special people in Jack's life; Jim Kittle, Kelly Hardin, Robyn Hughes, Andy Robinson and Paul McBride, and a special thank you to the staff at Gillette's Nursing Home for their compassionate and loving care. The memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. Rev. James P. Walker will celebrate Jack's life. The final resting place will be in Jimtown, W.Va. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 1815 W.
