Michael F. Hogan Sr.

Michael F. Hogan Sr., 79, passed away on Tuesday, August 25 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born on January 13, 1936 in Youngstown, OH, son to the late Francis "Frank" and Dorothy (Reninger) Hogan. Michael was a U.S. Navy veteran of 20 years. He served his country during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1967 and was transferred into the Fleet Reserve in 1972. During his service he earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Meritorious Unit Commendation. After his service, Michael worked for Packard Electric for 25 years before retiring. Michael will be remembered as an avid high school and college football fan, especially for The Ohio State University. He enjoyed fishing and showing his pride for his Irish heritage by going to Irish festivals and organizing a trip to Ireland. Michael was also extremely proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Left to mourn Michael's passing is his loving wife of 58 years whom he married on October 13, 1956, Janet (Hermenet) Hogan; his four sons, Michael F. Hogan Jr, Frank J. Hogan, Kevin P. (Barbara) Hogan, and Eric Hogan; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Jamie) Persino, Lona Hogan, Kaitlyn Hogan, Brian Hogan who is currently serving in the U.S. Air Force in the Middle East, Jeffrey Hogan, Kyle Hogan, and Scott Hogan; his great-grandchildren, Meliah and Sydney Persino, and Layla Dunn; his brother, Robert (Norma) Hogan; and his sister-in-law, Philomina Hogan. In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his brother, John "Jack" Hogan. Family will receive friends on Friday, August 28 from 6PM-8PM at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Mineral Ridge Chapel, 1350 N. Canfield-Niles Rd., where funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 29 at 10AM. Interment will follow at Niles Union Cemetery.
