Funeral services were held at 10:30am Wednesday in the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel for Michael J. Kohler, 85, who died Monday afternoon at Briarfield Manor Nursing Center in Austintown. He was born November 21, 1924 in Youngstown, a son of George and Margaret (Kollar) Hubert, and he resided in this area all of his life. He was a 1942 graduate of Youngstown East High School and he also attended the Youngstown College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WW II. He worked as a maintenance superintendant for General Motors in Lordstown for 11 years before retiring in 1989. After his retirement he started a tree business known as Kohler’s Green Acres. He was a 32nd degree Mason with the Western Star Lodge. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, and he loved the outdoors, his family, friends and animals. Michael was a kind and loving man and he will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Marion L.Folkwein, whom he married September 11, 1959. He also leaves behind two children; Judy (Larry) Lynn and David (Diane) Kohler, both of Canfield; a grandson, Larry Michael Lynn, also of Canfield; and a sister-in-law, Pearl Folkwein. He is preceded in death by his parents. There were no calling hours.
