AUSTINTOWN-Michael J. Murphy, 46, of Austintown, passed suddenly Sunday, January 14, 2007 at 10AM in his home. Michael was born April 16, 1960 in Youngstown and was the son of Donald R. and Virginia McKinley Murphy. Michael was employed with the Villiage of Craig Beach as the Street Commissioner for seven years. Michael was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Steel Valley Combine Pigeon Club. Michael was a coach for the Fighting Little Redmen, Youngstown Baseball Team and the Uptown Kiwanis Baseball Team. Michael enjoyed flying and racing pigeons. Michael was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Youngstown. Michael is survived by his wife the former Suzanne “Sue” Jenkins, whom he married on June 23, 1979; his mother and step father Joseph and Virginia “Ginney Lou” (McKinley) Golec of Austintown; two children Michael L. (Amber) of Austintown and Shana K. (Duane) Wellman of Austintown; two sisters Jeanine M. Murphy of Atlanta and Vickey L. (Sam) Mattace of Atlanta; and five grandchildren Arianna Gregorino, Brock Wellman, Jonathen, Damien, and Neven Murphy. Michael was preceded in death by his father. Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 18, 2007 from 4 until 7 PM in the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, where a funeral service will be held at 7PM with full military honors following.
