Mildred Brant

Mildred Brant, 107, passed away at Assumption Village on Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Mildred was born March 20, 1905 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Harry and Catherine Koch Luebben. She had worked at the Mazda Lamp works until her marriage and during World War II was "Rosie the Riveter", welding tank treads at Truscon Steel. Mildred canned fruits and vegetables and enjoyed sewing and made many of her own clothes. Her husband, Charles, whom she married November 29, 1928, passed away December 18, 1986. They had resided in Avon Park, Florida for 20 years returning to this area after travelling much of this country. She leaves 3 daughters, Marjorie (Bob) Fergus of Boardman, Dorothy (Bill) Powrie of Bradenton, Florida and Shirley (Bill) Curley of Ashland, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband, Mildred was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Grace Herdman, Frances Paden, Catherine Miller; 2 brothers, George and John Luebben and a grandson, Paul Marshall. The family of Mildred wishes to thank everyone at Assumption village for the compassion and care given to their mother. There will be no services or calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel.
