Mildred E. Blessing

Mildred Eva (Jenkins) Blessing, age 97, of Johnston passed away at 6:55am on Sunday December 14, 2008 at St. Joseph Healthcare Center. She was born the daughter of the late Edward J. and Ollie (Pierce) Jenkins in Washington D.C. on July 23, 1911. Mildred lived in Johnson City, Tenn. and Virginia before moving to Ohio in 1946. Her husband, Jesse Blessing, whom she married on December 22, 1928, preceded her in death in 1979. Mildred is survived by her children; John (Vee) Blessing of Florida, Don Blessing of Johnston, Shirley (Dick) Bacon of Fowler, Sylvia (Kenny) Chick of Kinsman, Jim (Sandi) Blessing of Fowler, Mary (Larry) Bartholomew of Greene, Janet Blessing of North Tazwell, Virginia, and Linda (Floyd) Finch of Mecca; 26 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 3 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse, her parents, a son Floyd, 3 grandchildren, and one daughter in law, Elizabeth. Funeral services will held at 12pm on Friday, December 19, 2008 at the Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel in Cortland. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Johnston Township Cemetery.
