Mrs. Mildred E. Smith, 89, of Brookfield, Ohio passed away at 10:08 AM on Thursday January 26, 2012 in the Emergency Room at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 20, 1922 in Sherman, NY a daughter of the late Jessie L. and Ellen (Nopper) Savage. Mildred attended school in Sherman and went on to work as a Nurses Aid for several hospitals in both New York and Ohio. She also had spent several years working at Packard Electric in Warren and had spent the last thirty-four years as a homemaker in Florida. Mrs. Smith was a member of several Baptist Church's including the First Baptist Church in Sherman and the Vienna Baptist Church. In her leisure time she enjoyed traveling, crocheting, and studying her Bible. She will be sadly missed by her son James Gravink, of Yankee Lake, OH; stepsons Gergory G. Gravink of Yankee Lake, OH, Thomas Smith of Deerfield Beach, FL and David Smith of Warren, OH; her stepdaughter Sue M. Kiblen of Lake Zurich, IL; her brother Lee Savage Jr and his wife Juva of Green Valley, AZ; and by several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her first husband Gordon Gravink, her second husband Harvard Smith, two daughters Carol Jean Gravink, and Beverly Gale Gravink, and by her brother Herbert L. Savage. Private visitation will be held on Monday at the Madasz Funeral Chapel in Brookfield, OH. Burial will take place on Tuesday at Sherman Cemetery in Sherman, New York.
