Funeral services will be 10:30 am Thursday at the Lane Family Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Mildred E. Tompkins, formerly of Austintown, who passed away Sunday afternoon at Laurie Ann Nursing Home, after complications from a longtime illness. Mildred was born March 20, 1922 in Abington, PA a daughter of the late Christopher and Carrie (May) Cowher. As a young woman she worked in a war plant during WWII inspecting hand grenades. She was a member of Evening Light Apostolic Church in Niles. Surviving are her daughters: Ethel Dillon of Niles, Jackie Makar of Bristolville and Margie Bokesch of Austintown; ten grandchildren: David, John, Pam, Sonya, Jason, Brian, Lisa, Krista, Brandon, and Kyle; nine great grandchildren: Kayla, Nicole, Jack, John, Dominic, Paige, Alexis, Nicolas, and Mason; three great great grandchildren: Astrid, Jeffrey and McKenzie; a half sister Marymildred Cowher and a step brother Peter Myers both of PA. Besides her parents, Mildred is predeceased by a daughter Carrie Morgan; two sisters: Margaret Stanton, Laura Tompkins; and one brother William Cowher; Friends may call from 5 pm until 7 pm Wednesday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes Austintown Chapel.
