Services will be 11 AM Thursday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Mildred Genevieve "Janis" Russo, 88, of Youngstown who passed away Sunday morning in Hospice House surrounded by her family. Janis, as she was known, was born October 18, 1922 in Youngstown the daughter of Edward and Ina (Gregory) Fitch and was a lifelong area resident. Janis worked at Schwebel Bakery prior to her marriage and becoming a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a former bowler with the Westside Ladies League and also enjoyed playing bingo. Her husband, the late Dominic N. Russo, passed away March 12, 1969. Janis leaves four children; Sue (Earl) Burnside, Laura (Carl) Hileman, and John (Gina) Russo all of Austintown, and Larry (Chris) Russo of Canfield, one sister; Virginia Zucco of Youngstown, 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Janis is preceded in death by one son; James Russo, a daughter-in-law; Bonnie Russo as well as five brothers, and five sisters. Friends may call from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 PM Wednesday and again from 10 to 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice House in Janis' name.
