Youngstown- Minnie Lucarell Johns Long passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the age of 99. She was born on April 21, 1917 in Youngstown, OH, daughter to the late Patsy and Mary (Diana) Lucarell. The oldest of 12 siblings, Minnie's interests in life always centered around her family and church. She loved family gatherings and was always the center of attention. She was an avid reader and kept up on current events. Minnie had a long working career at General Fireproofing Co. (42 years), and she was 1st Recording Secretary of United Steelworkers Union Local 1617. Her door was always open and had many dear friends throughout the valley. Left to cherish Minnie's memory is her son and daughter-in-law, James and Laura Johns of Poland and Naples, FL; her granddaughters, Allison (Andre) Gullis of Bristow, VA, and Jamie Johns of Charlotte, NC; and 5 great-grandchildren. Minnie is also survived by her siblings, Rosemary Lazar of Canfield, Geraldine Brennan of Boardman, Patricia Morella of Canfield, Shirley Costas of Florida, Joann Schanz of Youngstown, and Barbara Zitkovitch of Struthers; her sister-in-law, Rose Lucarell; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Minnie is preceded in death by her loving husband, William Long, and her siblings, Judy Connors, Annette Blair, Jean Braun Catoline, Anita Gieseler, and Patrick Lucarell. Friends and family will be received on Friday, December 2 from 1PM to 2PM with mass to follow at 2PM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 343 Via Mt. Carmel Ave. Entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to Minnie's sisters, nieces, and sister-in-law Rose Lucarell.
