Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel for Morris William Van Rees who moved to the area seventeen years ago from Oskaloosa, Iowa and passed away on Friday at Caprice Health Care in North Lima. Morris was born June 2, 1920 at his home in Oskaloosa, the son of Evert Jan and Marie (DeGeus) Van Rees. He served as a Sergeant in the 481st Air Services Squadron in the Pacific Theatre during WWII and was stationed in the Phillipines. Morris was a Master Plumber and Electrician in Oskaloosa for forty years before retiring to the Youngstown area. Besides his wife, the former Josephine Parker, whom he married June 29, 1941, Morris leaves four children: Greg and his wife Judy Van Rees of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Victor and his wife Dodie Van Rees of Herndon, Virginia, Douglas and his wife Debra of Canfield and Cheryl and her husband Sam Chianello of Poland. He also leaves seven grandchildren: Jason, Adam, Mara, Brie, Farra, Jenna, and Alex as well as two great grandchildren: Samantha and Conner. Morris was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, four brothers, and two sisters. Friends and family may call from 4-6 PM today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Willow Creek Learning Center at 1322 W. Western Reserve Rd. Boardman, OH 44512.
