Myron W. Matthews, of Mineral Ridge, passed away Thursday morning at Select Specialty Hospital in Youngstown. Myron was born November 2, 1914 in Mineral Ridge a son of the late Wilson and Lena (Neff) Matthews. He had owned and operated Matthews Coal and Builders Supply Business for 15 years, was a school bus driver for Weathersfield Township for 15 years, was a painter for the Mahoning Valley Sanitary District for 10 years, and also had worked for Nichols Bakery and Lloyds Packing in their delivery departments. Myron was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mineral Ridge. He loved traveling with his family and loved bowling. His wife the former Elaine M. McMahan whom he married September 19, 1936, passed away on October 6, 2005. He is survived by a sister Jean Sweeney of Mineral Ridge; four grandchildren: Stephen A. (Paula) Matthews of Mineral Ridge, Scott A. (Melanie) Matthews of New Philadelphia, Myron A. (Karen) Matthews Jr. of Howland and Gerre A. (Cindy) Matthews of Niles and nine great grandchildren. Myron is preceded in death by his son Alan Matthews, and a sister Ester Rhoe. Friends may call from 9:30 – 10 AM Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Mineral Ridge where a funeral service will be held at 10 AM.
