Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 5th at Canfield Methodist Church, 27 S. Broad Street, Canfield for Nanette Dawson of Copeland Oaks, formerly of Canfield who died at Crandall Medical Center Thursday afternoon. Nanette was born May 25, 1925 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Robert and Lucille McIntosh McMahan and graduated from South High School. It was there she met her husband Carl "Gene" Dawson and they were married November 17, 1945, 70 years ago this month. Nanette had been a secretary for the former Strouss-Hirschberg for several years prior to her marriage and later had worked for the U.S. Postal Service, Canfield Branch. She was a member of Canfield United Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, crocheting and knitting. She also enjoyed canning and baking and had won several ribbons at the Canfield Fair. Besides her husband, Nanette leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Janice C. and Rev. Jay Wolin of Davenport, Iowa; a son, Richard C. Dawson of Florida; a brother, Robert McMahan of Burlington, Vermont; a sister, Barbara Wise of North Lima; three grandchildren, Olivia, Will and Kyle and two great-granddaughters, Scarlett and Juniper. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Lane Family Funeral Home, 65 N. Broad St., Canfield Chapel and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
