Nettie Iglhart Lawrence

Nettie Iglehart Lawrence, 97, of Warren and previously of Leesburg, FL passed way Friday evening, January 9, 2009 in Shepherd of The Valley in Howland Township where she had been a resident for the past year. Born October 14, 1911 in Tokyo, Japan, she was the daughter of the late Edwin T. and Louella (Miller) Iglehart. The daughter of Methodist missionary parents, Nettie grew up in Tokyo and attended the American School in Japan. A graduate Syracuse University and Yale University School of Nursing, Nettie taught nursing is Syracuse, New York. In addition, she worked at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. She was a devoted wife and mother and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed listening to classical music and keeping up with national political events. Her warm sense of humor and positive attitude endeared her to those who knew her. Nettie was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Walter E. Lawrence whom she married July 19, 1941 and who passed away August 1, 1979; three brothers and three sisters, including her twin sister. Nettie will be dearly missed by her children Walter(Lenore Grenoble) Lawrence of Hanover, NH, Nancy(Thomas) Norton of Warren, Edwin(Diego Uribe) Lawrence of Bennington, VT, Susan(Charles) Bostwick of Rushford, NY and Gary(Lorraine) Lawrence of Hoboken, NJ, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a sister Jean McDaniels of Bridgewater, NJ, brother Charles(Jane) Iglehart of Severna Park, MD, a sister-in-law Marilyn Iglehart of Yorktown Heights, NY and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. There will be no local calling hours or services and a private family memorial service will be held in Valhalla, NY at a later date.
