Norio L. "Norm" Lorenzi

Norio L. "Norm" Lorenzi, 93 of Howland passed away peacefully from complications of Parkinson's disease on Thursday evening, January 26, 2017, at Gillette Nursing Home. He was born June 20, 1923 in Trento, Italy the son of the late Pangrazio Louis and Guiditta Theresa Raoss Lorenzi and emigrated to the United States when he was 15 months old. He was raised in Nuremberg, Pa. and had been a Howland resident for 46 years. Norio served as a gunner's mate in the U.S. Navy in the European theatre during World War II. He retired in 1986 from General Motors in Lordstown, where he worked as a painter in the maintenance department for 27 years. He was also a licensed realtor in the area for many years. Norio was a member of VFW Post 1090 in Warren, where he had served as chaplain. He was a member of the Warren YMCA for 40 years and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan, often listening and watching two games at once. Norio is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Mary L. Salokas Lorenzi whom he married September 15, 1951; and five children, Janice M. Doughton of Howland, Cheryl A. (Jeff) Crawford of Massillon, Richard D. (Angela) Lorenzi of Fowler, Patricia K. Lorenzi of Akron and Cynthia M. (Ray) McAnallen of Warren. He is also survived by one brother, Reno (Mary Ann) Lorenzi of Weston, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Carolyn (Mark) Stefanic, Leah (Kevin) Toot, Allison (Jay) Jones, Jeffrey (Kathy) McAnallen, Anthony McAnallen, Jennifer McAnallen and Alaina Lorenzi; and seven great grandchildren, Alex, Mylie, Alexis, Brandt, Kalyn, Beckett and Julia. One sister, Rita Palushock and one brother, Elio Lorenzi both have preceded him in death. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Church with Rev. Thomas C. Eisweirth celebrating the Mass. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and from 11 a.m. until noon Tuesday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta. The family wishes to thank the staff at Gillette Nursing Home for their attentive and loving care of Norio these past years.
