Norma J Grayson

Norma J. Grayson, 85 of Cortland, died peacefully in Kissimmee FL, Sunday, July 19, 2015 after a lengthy illness. She was born February 22, 1930 in Burghill, the daughter of the late Maurice and Helen Banning McElrath. She had been a longtime Cortland resident. Norma was a 1949 graduate of Cortland High School. She retired from Delphi Packard Electric in 1987, after 28 years service, where she made many friends. Norma was known by friends and family for her crocheting, her love of owls and her sweet tooth. She was especially fond of family get togethers and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Norma will be deeply missed by her four daughters and their families, Dr. Janet Haynes (Dr. Charles) Bisogno of Florida, Barbara Haynes (Richard) Soden of Madison, Ohio, Jean Haynes (Shawn) Reynolds of Calif. and Tammie Grayson (Chris) Winans of Michigan; nine grandchildren, Ian, Joshua, Adam, Jillian, Kaitlyn, Perrin, Tyler, Nicholas and Elizabeth; her three great grandchildren; her nephew, Larry Fobes and her niece, Susan Fobes Himes and her family whom she dearly loved. Besides her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her son, Robert L. Haynes and her sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Norman Fobes. The family will celebrate Norma's life at a memorial service at noon Friday, September 4, 2015 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel in Cortland, where the family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service.
