Norman Dale Duncan

November 3, 1919 — July 27, 2008

Norman Dale Duncan of Vienna, OH, went to be in the presence of God's eternal love on Sunday, July 27, 2008 after a brief illness. He was 88 years old. Mr. Duncan was born in Ebensburg, PA on November 03, 1919, a son of R. Dale and Dora (Mahan) Duncan. Norman graduated from St. Francis College in 1941 with a degree in chemistry and served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked at Packard Electric for 33years, before retiring from the Materials Department in 1983 as a supervisor of Research and Development. In keeping with his environmental ideals, Norman also owned and operated a certified tree farm in Gipsy, PA for the past 27 years. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Sarah "Sally" Duncan, his five children; Jane (Mark) Mecozzi of Howland, OH, Louise (Paul) Spencer of Fowler, OH, Scott Duncan of Pittsburgh, PA, Nancy (Matt) Marchesano of Laguna Niguel, CA, and Doug Duncan, M. Div. of Raleigh, NC; twelve grandchildren Philip and Laura Mecozzi, Sean Spencer, Patrick, Shannon, Cameron, Deidre, Avery and Jamie Duncan, Ben and Hannah Marchesano, and Elijah Duncan. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his brother James D. Duncan; and a grandson Christopher R. Gless. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday (07-31-2008) at the Lane Funeral Homes Madasz Chapel. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the Madasz Funeral Chapel, Brookfield. Burial will be in Crown Hill Burial Park. As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests contributions can be made to the Disciples Christian Church 565 Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman, Ohio 44512.
