Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Mahoning United Methodist Church, 2214 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown for Norman Clyde Meredith, 86 of Canfield who died Thursday evening at St. Elizabeth Boardman Campus. Norman was born June 22, 1924 in Youngstown, a son of the late Herbert E. and Alice M. Jones Meredith and was a lifelong area resident. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Mahoning United Methodist Church and Gideons International. Norman had been a machinist/CNC programmer for Wean United for 44 years, retiring in 1992. His wife, the former Dolores Mae "Coie" Grapentine, whom he married August 8, 1945, died June 21, 2006. He leaves two sons, Terry Lee (Debbie) Meredith of Sanger, Texas, Ralph (Kimberly) Meredith of Allen, Texas and one daughter, Dawn (Terry) Crosby of Canfield; one sister, Ruth Eileen (Doug) Parson of Boise, Idaho; 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Besides his parents and his wife, Norman was preceded in death by his wife and a brother, Robert R. Meredith. Friends may call on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Arrangements by Lane Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel.
