Oran W. “Shenney” Carr passed away Tuesday morning at Forum Health Northside Medical Center. He was 90. Oran was born June 22, 1915 in Fairchance, PA a son of the late Ewing and Zella Cooley Carr, and came to this area in 1944. He was a millwright for Youngstown Sheet and Tube and then Valley Mold, a 50 year member of the Western Star Lodge and the Aut Mori Grotto. Oran enjoyed singing in Barber Shop Quartets, the Sheet & Tube Chorus, the Poly Wogs Club, and the Austintown Minstral. He was a member of AARP and several veteran’s organizations. Oran served in the United States Army during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. His wife, the former, Marguerite Schultz, whom he married April 10, 1948, passed away February 22, 1997. He is survived by his daughter Bonnie (Tom) Kemp of Youngstown; three grandchildren: Lori (Ron) Campana, Lisa (Bob) Wire, and David (Shira) Elder; and six great grandchildren: Natalie Campana, Kelley Campana, Rob Wire, Cassie Wire, Carlin Elder, and Macey Elder. Besides his wife and parents, three brothers and one sister precede Oran in death. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Friday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel where a funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM Saturday. There will be a Western Star Service at 8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
