Patricia Colette Bailey

Patricia Colette (Goist) Bailey, age 76 passed away on Saturday, December 14th, 2019 at American House Senior Living in Macedonia, Ohio of Alzheimer’s disease.
Patricia was born March 28th, 1943 at North Side Hospital in Youngstown to Wayne and Marion (Hunt) Goist of North Jackson, Ohio. She graduated from Jackson-Milton High School in 1961. She served as the class president and also the valedictorian. She played the flute in the band and was a majorette in the marching band. She was also chosen to participate in the American Legion Auxiliary Girl’s State program.
She married Clarence (Larry) Bailey Jr. on June 23rd, 1962 in North Jackson. They had 3 children together, Karen, Dawna and Kevin.
She pursued a career as a Legal Secretary. She worked for the Seidita & Gambrel Law Offices and the Legal Department at Bank One in Youngstown.
Patricia then became a Judicial Assistant to Magistrate Judge James D. Thomas at the United States District Court, Northern District of Ohio in downtown Youngstown. Her last job was as an Executive Legal Secretary for the law firm of Squires, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P. in Cleveland, Ohio. She retired from this position in 2008.
She became a Certified Paralegal at the Shenago Campus of Penn State University in 1994. She also earned the Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) and Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) ratings.
Pat also served as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention held in San Francisco in 1984.
Patricia was a Girl Scout leader for many years in Austintown, Ohio for Troop 381 and was also the assistant leader for Troop 8. Her girl scouts affectionately called her Mrs. B and considered her a role model, mentor and second mom.
She belonged to the International Association of Administrative Professionals for the Yo-Mah-O and Forest City Chapters and served on several committees.
She was a member of the First Federated Church of North Jackson where she taught Sunday school and worked as the church secretary, the Austintown Community Church and lastly the Brecksville United Church of Christ. She served on numerous committees and participated in charitable events.
Patricia loved music. She sang in the Sweet Adeline’s for several years in Youngstown and served as the president at one time. She always belonged to her church choir and hardly ever missed a practice.
She will always be remembered for her infectious laugh, for her love of singing and dancing, and for her absolute love of chocolate.
She is survived by her daughter Karen (Glenn) Coldwell of Ravenna, son Kevin (Shawna) Bailey of Brunswick, Ohio, her grandchildren Morgan, Bryson and Piper Bailey, her sisters Sharyn Common of Lordstown and Barbara Morrison of Austintown, brothers Richard Goist of Cincinnati and Robert Goist of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her daughter Dawna Bailey.
In lieu of flowers the family would like to request donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Memorial services celebrating Patricia’s life will be held at 4PM Saturday January 4, 2020 at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel where friends and family may call from 2PM until time of services.
