Patrick S. Casale, 85, of Vienna, passed away 7:50 PM Saturday Oct.20, 2007, at home surrounded by his three children, following an extended illness. He was born September 10, 1922 in Girard, OH the son of the late Lazzaro and Teresa (Caruso) Casale. Pat graduated from Girard High School and enlisted in the US Navy. He served in the air services division from 1942 to 1946 as an Aviation Electrician’s Mate, first class and specialized in repairing electrical systems on B-24 bombers. He received the African-European-Middle Eastern Theater ribbon, the Good Conduct medal, and the WW II Victory medal. After the war, he worked for Brainard Steel and retired from IBM Corp. where he was a service engineer for 30 years. Mr. Casale had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening, cooking, and repairing and making just about anything. He enjoyed worshiping at the First Baptist Church of Niles. Survivors include a daughter Barbara Rapone and her husband David of Champion, two sons Larry Casale of Cambridge, MA, Jeff Casale of Vienna, three grandchildren, Sarah Casale of West Bloomfield, MI, David Casale of Niles, Lindsey Costas and her husband David of Cortland, and his best friend Jean Johnson of Howland. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Dominic Casale of Kingman, AZ and a nephew Donald Casale of Girard. Friends will be received from 4:00-6:00 PM Tuesday Oct. 23, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Niles 26 East Church St. Niles, OH. Church services will follow at 6:00 PM. The Rev. G. Ben Reed will officiate. Interment will be 1:00 PM Wednesday in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH. Roberts-Clark Chapel handled the arrangements.
