Paul Francis McCummins went to be with the Lord on Monday evening, November 3, 2014, after a long hard battle with several illnesses and their complications, surrounded by family and friends. Paul was born October 13, 1935 in Canoe City, Leavittsburg, the son of the late Loyal E. and Eva (Harclerode) McCummins Sr. He graduated in 1954 from Bazetta High School, where he enjoyed playing basketball, and went on to attend The Ohio State University. Paul served in the Army as a Propeller Repairman at Fort Eustis and Goose Bay, Labrador. He retired from Thomas Steel Strip after 35 years of service, primarily as a Chemical Laboratory Technician, and served as vice-president and president of United Steel Workers Local 3523. Paul was a caring, soft-spoken man, with a quiet sense of humor. He was an avid fan of his family and enjoyed watching their band nights, athletic events, school plays and artistic performances. He loved to play golf and was a lifelong fan of all things Buckeye and the Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed playing cards and square dancing with his wife and friends, bus trips to the casino, working around his home, and having friends over for cookouts. Paul was known for the best grilled steaks. Paul was a member of the Crosstrailers Square Dance Club, serving as an officer for thirteen years. He was an enthusiastic volunteer at the Animal Welfare League. Paul had a strong love of the Lord, and was active member of Saint John Paul II parish, where he sang in the choir, served as a greeter, and chaired the Church Bingo, Rummage Sale, and Festival Booths. Paul is survived by his wife, Margie (Mintus) McCummins who he married on December 31, 1984, letting the whole world celebrate their love; daughter Caroline (John) Jones; his sons Ronald (Stacey Thompson) McCummins, Bob (Renita) Mintus, and Patrick (Sarah) Mintus; grandchildren Chester Jones, Rachel (William) Boehnlein, Paul Lindsay, Matthew (Stacey) McCummins, Marisa Gourley, Ross and Natalie McCummins; Allison, David, Elizabeth and Scott Mintus; Zachary and Claire Mintus; and five great-grandchildren.
