Pearl M Bowers

Pearl Mildred Hunt Bowers, age 97, formerly of Warren, died Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. She was born on August 5, 1913 in Newcomerstown, OH, a daughter of the late Earl Hunt and the late Effie Ethel Kedigh. Pearl was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and had worked most of her life outside her home. She is a member of the Pythian Sisters, the White Shrine, Eastern Star, Scope and Country Neighbor in Orwell, OH. She attended Kent State University for Home Health Care and took care of many elderly people as well as family and friends. Pearl worked for the Election Board for several years. In 2010, she was nominated by Country Neighbor to be Senior Citizen of the Year. Pearl will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Her husband, George Edwin Bowers, whom she married on June 26, 1936, preceded her in death on April 16, 1968. She is the mother of two living children; Delores (Elmer) Jean Bowers Falasco with whom Pearl made her home in Andover, OH the past seven years and a son, Charles (JoAnn) Edwin Bowers of Engelwood, FL, a sister, Jewel Winans of Ontario, CA and by 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Pearl was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Glen and Floyd Hunt and by two sisters, Nora Vangilder and Goldie Cessna and one grandson, Donald Mark Pierce. A service by the ladies of the Eastern Star will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 11 AM at the Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel in Cortland, OH. The family will receive friends from 11:15 AM – 12:00 PM Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the funeral home followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM.
