PERRY R. KIMMEL, 71 CANFIELD-There will be Services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church for Perry R. Kimmel, 71, who died early Thursday morning at his residence. Perry was born December 27, 1944 in Temple, TX, the son of Perry and Mae Thomas Kimmel, Jr. He was a 1962 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and had attended Y.S.U. Perry was a Product Manager with Youngstown Steel Door for 38 years, retiring in 2003. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he was an Usher and member of the Property Committee. Perry was also a member of the Experimental Aircraft Assoc. He enjoyed flying and had held a private pilot license since 1976 and had at one time owned his own plane. Perry earned his Eagle Scout Award as a member of Troop 84 in Austintown. He was an Ambassador with the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society and was proud of being a 17 year survivor of Lymphoma. Perry loved being with his wife, Pat and his family and also his beloved dog, Perky, especially while camping and traveling. One of his favorite vacations was traveling to Alaska. He enjoyed classic cars and specifically Buicks. He also enjoyed attending car shows. Perry is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Patricia R West whom he married June 19, 1965; his daughter Kelly L Tobin (Joseph G. Heldreth) of Canfield; his son, Perry R. (Pam) Kimmel, Jr. of Diamond; his sisters, Jackie (Tom) Miller of Austintown and Terri (Walter) Sheely of North Jackson; his brother-in-law, Ken Aldridge of Houston, TX; his sister-in-law, Evelyn (Tom) Dowling of Austintown; his grandchildren, Brianne and P.J. Kimmel, Lauryn and Nicholas Tobin, Heather and Cole Berry and Alec, Arec and Andrew Heldreth. Besides his parents, Perry was preceded in death by his sister, Sharyn Aldridge. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes-Austintown Chapel and from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, prior to the Service at the Church.
