Peter J Kapus

CANFIELD-There will be services at 11AM Thursday, August 16, 2007 in Canfield United Methodist Church for Peter J. Kapus, 82, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who passed away Sunday, August 12, 2007. Peter was born October 31, 1924 in Warren the son of the late Harry and Anna Kapus. Peter earned a mechanical engineering degree from Youngstown College in 1950 after serving three years in the United States Navy during World War II. Peter was employed for 30 years by U.S. Steel (Ohio and McDonald Works) retiring in 1980. Peter was a resident of Canfield for 52 years. During his time he was a faithful member of his church and active in the community. He served on the city council and was a member of the Parks and Recreation Board. He was also a member of the Rotary, Community Club, Argus Lodge 545, Aut Mori Grotto, Scottish Rite and Youngstown Shrine. Peter will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years the former Betty Tussing, whom he married December 2, 1950; two sons David (Ruth Ann) of Canfield and William (Holly) of Worthington, OH; four grandchildren Stephen of Canfield, Katherine of Denver, CO, Carolyn (Richard) Deer of Canfield, and Michael of Bozeman, MT; and two great grandchildren Alexis and Jacob Deer of Canfield. Besides his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his sister Blanche. Friends may call from 6 until 8 PM Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel, where a Masonic service will be recited following calling hours.
