Phyllis J. Lawn

Phyllis J. Lawn, 67, of Bristolville, OH passed early Sunday morning February 27, 2011 at Hospice House in Poland, Ohio following a brief illness. Mrs. Lawn was born on May 25, 1943 Glendale, WV, a daughter of the late Sampson and Martha (Stern) Woods. She was a graduate of Boardman High School and went on to marry Laurence E. Lawn on December 4, 1963. Together they would share more than forty-seven years of marriage and their three children. Phyllis had been a homemaker and mother and had enjoyed reading, crocheting, as well as watching Wheel of Fortune. She was known to be an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan and had until the past several years participated in several bowling leagues with her husband. She is survived by her husband Larry at home, her daughter Lori (Steve) Dunkerton of Mecca, OH, son Ed (Lori) Lawn of Champion, OH, sister Ruth Vernon of Florida, two brothers Ronald Woods of Ohio and Kenny Ray Woods of Georgia, five grandchildren Adam and Tyler Lawn, Michael and Nicci Dunkerton, and Ashley Lawn, as well as two great-grandchildren. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, son Loren A. Lawn in 2005, four brothers and five sisters. Funeral services will be begin at 12:00 PM on Wednesday afternoon March 2, 2011 at the Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel 164 North High Street Cortland, Ohio 44410. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow next to her son at West Mecca Cemetery.
