Ralph A. Jordon

March 25, 1948 — April 14, 2010

After a 16-month tough fought battle with cancer, Ralph A. Jordon died Wednesday, April 14, 2010 surrounded by his large, loving family. Mr. Jordon, a lifelong Austintown resident, was the first born son of the late Samuel J. and Stella P. (Ortenzio) Jordon, Sr. Mr. Jordon was a 1966 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School. He was a Vietnam Era Veteran serving his country in the United States Navy. Mr. Jordon was the owner of the Pink Elephant Lounge in Austintown; a family owned business serving Austintown for more than 40 years. Mr. Jordon was also active in helping his father operate two prior family businesses: The Golden Pheasant and The Green Acre’s Lounge both of Austintown. Mr. Jordon enjoyed the morning “Coffee Crew” at his Pink Elephant Lounge, his loving staff and friends. He had a Pink Elephant car that raced at the Canfield Fairgrounds, and the Pink Elephant mascot was part of the Austintown parades for years. Additionally, Mr. Jordon was a proud General Motors retiree and a member of the Local UAW 1112. Mr. Jordon was an avid golfer and organized the yearly Pink Elephant Golf Outing. He was a member of the MORRA League and the Dart league both of Youngstown. Mr. Jordon was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Youngstown. He leaves his wife of 24 years Georgia (Hallberg) Jordon and six children Samuel (Effie), Ralph Jr. (Jennifer), Timothy Gay (Jill), and Philip all of Austintown, a daughter Amy (Shaun) Canavan of Vestal, NY and his son Christopher who preceded him in death in 2000; and nine grandchildren Anthony, Timothy, Alyssa, Savannah, Christopher, Brooklyn, Victoria, Julia, Brianna and a tenth grandchild due in December. Mr. Jordon also leaves two sisters Theresa and Angeline Jordon and a brother Samuel J. Jordon Jr. all of Austintown. In addition, Mr. Jordon was blessed with a large, loving family including numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins (Steve) and by a host of friends. Calling hours will take place on Sunday, April 18, 2010 from 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave, Austintown, Ohio, 44515. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 12:45 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 343 Via Mt. Carmel, Youngstown, Ohio, 44505 with the Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio officiating. Closing prayers will be recited at 11:50 a.m. Monday morning in the funeral home prior in leaving for the church. Burial will follow with full military honors in Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown.
