Ralph L. Borden, 73 of Austintown, Ohio passed away at his home on Thursday April 26 after a long illness. Born in Utica, New York, Ralph had a long career as a supervisor and manager for Kays Jewelers (Utica, NY), Rudolph Jewelers (Saratoga Springs, NY) and several stops for Bailey, Banks & Biddle Jewelers, with his most recent stay in Beechwood, Ohio. He also served as the City Circulation Director for the Syracuse Herald Journal and Post Standard Newspapers of Syracuse, New York, The Thompson Newspapers of Steubenville, Ohio and Kingston, New York and The Albany Times Union of Albany, New York. Mr. Borden was a graduate of Utica Free Academy (NY) and a decorated veteran of the Korean War. He was a recipient of the National Defense Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars and a Meritorious Unit Commendation. He attended Mohawk Valley Technical Institute and received a degree in Retail Business Management. Ralph is survived by his wife the former Antoinette Gambetta of New Hartford, NY and his four children; Marcus A. (Toni) Borden, South River, NJ; Tree A. (Michele) Borden, Boston, Mass; Cheryl A. Jackson, Youngstown, Ohio and Gabrielle A. (Raymond) Clark of Leetonia, Ohio. He had 8 grandchildren: Brittany, Colin, Steven, Timothy Jr., Heidi, JohnAdam, Alexandria, and Nicholas. Services will be 10 AM Monday at St. Joseph’s Parish in Austintown, Ohio. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Covenant House New York, Attn.
