Ralph S. Foder 78, of Champion Twp. passed away at 4:40AM on Thursday morning August 21, 2014 at his home following complications from a lengthy illness. He was born in Warren on November 22, 1935 the son of Stephen and Olive (Dietz) Fodor. Ralph was a 1955 graduate of Champion High School and went on to marry his sweetheart Mary Ellen Shaulis on April 20, 1957. Together they have shared over fifty-seven years of marriage and their three children Debbie, Tim, and Cindy. Ralph had worked for both the former Republic Steel and Copperweld Steel before his career as a painter in the maintenance department of Packard Electric. He retired in 2000 with more than thirty-five years of service. Mr. Foder was 32nd Degree member Old Erie Lodge #3 of the Free and Accepted Masons in Warren. He was also a longtime member of the Al Koran Shrine in Cleveland, V.F.W. Post #1090, Moose Lodge #186, and the Champion Christian Church. Ralph also served in the United States Coast Guard Reserves for twenty-two years before his retirement at the rank of Captain. He leaves behind his beloved wife Mary Ellen; his children Deborah Kellett and her husband Donald; Timothy Foder and his wife Valerie all of Champion, OH; Cynthia Foder of Bristolville, OH; nine grandchildren Nicole Kellett and Dr. Tiffany Kellett, Jessica, Jennifer, and Jeffery Hovis, Timothy Foder Jr., Lee Mansfield, Michael Scott, and Angel Collins; and by six-great-grandchildren. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister Evelyn Case. Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 4-7:00PM at the Roberts-Clark Chapel of Lane Family Funeral Homes in Warren, OH. Old Erie Lodge #3 will conduct a Masonic Service beginning at 5:45PM. Funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday morning at the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth Hopkins officiating. Friends may also call one hour prior to the start of the services. Burial will follow at the Champion Township Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Al Koran Shrine Center 1000 E. Edgerton Road Broadview Heights, OH 44147.
