Funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Randall T. Kern, 70, who died early Wednesday morning, Aug. 11th at his residence in North Port. He was born October 13, 1939 in Youngstown, a son of John and Cleo (Wells) Kern, and he relocated to Florida in 1997. He had worked in the maintenance department at General Motors Lordstown for 27 years before retiring in 1995. He was a former member of the Niles Praise Cathedral. He was also a past member of the Fraternal Order of Masons, Allen Lodge #276 in Columbiana. He enjoyed woodworking and cabinet making, he was a collector, and he loved nature and the outdoors. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, the former Marlene S. Foster, whom he married February 9, 1985. He also leaves behind five children; Randall Kern, Jr. of Lake Milton, Richard (Deborah) Kern of Struthers, John (Shannon) Tomlin of Niles, and William Tomlin and Melissa Tomlin, both of North Port; a brother, John (Theresa) Kern of Struthers; a sister, Amy (Edward) Winger of Conneaut; ten grandchildren and a great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nora Pascal. Friends may call from 6-8pm Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the funeral home in Randall’s memory.
