Sacramento, CA- Raymond A. “Pat” Lynch, formerly of Mineral Ridge died Wednesday in Sacramento, CA where he had been a resident since 1958. He was 78 years old. Pat was a son of the late Edward J. and Susan Marie (Rishel) Lynch. He was a graduate of Mineral Ridge High School, received a B.S. Degree in Chemistry from Youngstown State University; was awarded a Fellowship to Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL and received his Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Davis. He was employed by Aerojet in Rancho Cordova as a Research Chemist in the solid propellants program. He retired in 1991 from the California Dept. of Transportation where he was a systems analyst for 23 years. Pat had served with the U.S. Navy in Honolulu as an electricians mate during WWII. Pat was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Parish in Sacramento, CA, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mineral Ridge, and was a member of the American Society of Chemical Engineers. Pat enjoyed woodworking. In California Pat lived on the American River where he enjoyed canoeing and where he renovated their home. He is survived by his wife Wanda (Friesen) Lynch, whom he married July 16, 1965, a son Brad Friesen of Orange County, CA, a daughter Jodi Wimmer of Folsom, CA, three grandchildren: Ryan and Katie Friesen and Jill Wimmer, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Grace (C.A.) Covington, Jr. of Naples, FL, Mrs. Gere (James) Weller of Liberty and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister Bernice Knisley and a brother Edward J. Lynch, Jr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Monday in St. Mary’s Church in Mineral Ridge where the family will meet friends one hour prior to the Mass at the church. The family requests that material tributes be made in Pat’s memory to St. Mary’s Church in Mineral Ridge, OH. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown. Lane Funeral Home- Mineral Ridge Chapel in charge of arrangements.
