Raymond H. Brownlie, age 92 of Youngstown passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Park Vista Retirement Center. Raymond was born November 14, 1920 in New York to parents John and Estelle (Reid) Brownlie. He married June Meserlin on September 16, 1944 and together they shared 68 years of marriage and had three wonderful sons. Raymond proudly served our country in the United States Navy during WWII. He worked for General Motors in Administration for 35 years, retiring in 1974. He also worked with the IRS in Youngstown for several years. Raymond was a deacon, trustee and elder in the Presbyterian Church for many years. He served as commissioner for the Wedgewood baseball league, he was a United Way volunteer, past President of the GM Retirees Club from 1987-1989, and was in numerous musicals at Youngstown Playhouse. Survivors include his loving wife; June, sons; Barry (Lana) Veverka-Brownlie of Los Angeles, CA, Ken Brownlie of Cleveland, Craig (Suzanne Brendze) Brownlie of Rochester, NY, brothers; Arthur, Robert, and grandchildren; Matthew, Trevor, Rachael and Aaron Brownlie. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister; Katharine Crater, brothers; John and Walter, daughter in law; Jeanne Brownlie. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2013 from 1:00-2:00pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Boardman and a funeral service starting at 2:00pm. Interment will take place at Western Reserve National Cemetery.
