Raymond L. Bentley, age 69, of Niles, formerly of Hermitage, Pa., died Saturday at 3:27 p.m. at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. He was born October 14, 1926, in Sharon, PA., a son of Fred and Nell (McKay) Bentley. Ray was a 1955 graduate of Sharpsville High School. He was raised in Sharpsville and lived in Hermitage for many years. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Sharon Steel Corp. where he worked for 38 years. Ray had been a member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Church in Hermitage. He also enjoyed bowling and bowled on leagues. He enjoyed horses and horseback riding and loved animals. He is survived by two sisters, Rose Heeter of Erie, Pa., and Helen Hathaway of Niles and one great nephew, Corey Hathaway of Cortland. Ray was preceded in death by a nephew, Rich Hathaway; two sisters, Marge Howard and Dorothy Pavlick and one brother, John Brandt. Arrangements are being handled by Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel in Warren. Private graveside chapel services will be held, according to Raymond’s wishes. Entombment will be at Pineview Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
