Raymond Lane

June 8, 1939 — June 9, 2018

Raymond Lane, 79 of Masury, peacefully passed away while surrounded by family at his home of 42 years on Saturday morning, June 9, 2018 after an extended illness. Ray was born June 8, 1939 in Connellsville, Pa. to the late Glen Lane and Grace (Dillinger) Lane and had nine siblings. On December22, 1959 he married Barbara J. Kachmarek Lane with whom he shared nearly 60 years of marriage. His employment with Cooper-Jarrett Trucking Company brought him to the local area in 1971 and he became self -employed as the owner of Ray's Truck Repair and Rays Trucking after Cooper-Jarrett closed in 1982. He was a selfless hard worker whose work ethic and old school attitude gained him a reputation throughout the years. "Take it to Ray" was common to hear in the 70s and 80s in the local neighborhood, especially if it was a Volkswagon. Ray was a lifelong mechanic and repairman with experience in diesel and automotive repair, welding, electrical, plumbing and general repair and would not hesitate to take on large projects that others would avoid. His hobbies and interests throughout the years included hunting, building and racing dune buggys, spending time at the camp, reviving an old car or truck that had seen better days, and finding or fixing things for family and others. His crown in this life is his achievement as a genuine family patriarch. "Pap's" extensive influence and involvement in each of his children's, grandchildren's and great granchildren's lives is impossible to calculate. This genuine attitude had no boundaries and extended well into helping friends and strangers throughout the years. Ray is survived by his wife, Barbara; three daughters, Victoria A. Heckathorn and Terry Day of Masury, Rosemary and Gary Livingston of Masury and Sharon M. and Ron Mortimer of Brookfield; one son Timothy R. and Karen Lane of Gerrardstown, WV; eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Alaina Rose Livingston and his son-in-law, Jeffrey Heckathorn. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Madasz Chapel in Brookfield, where a simple service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Brookfield Township Cemetery. Online condolences may be made to the family and the obituary viewed at www.madaszchapel.com
