Reese Jones

Hubbard- Reese Jones, 83, of Hubbard, Ohio passed away at home on Thursday morning, October 30, 2014. Reese was born on December 25, 1930 to Thomas and Clara (Tarr) Jones of Brookfield. He attended Brookfield High School and was active in multiple sports, including football and baseball. On May 24, 1954 he married the former Shirley Sheridan, also of Brookfield. Reese served as a sergeant in the United States Army and was employed as a shop superintendent at the former Sharon Steel. An active member of the local community, Reese served as a member of the School Board, Brookfield Park Superintendent, and Brookfield Trustee. Mr. Jones also formed the midget and Pee-Wee football leagues for Brookfield and Masury, and was an active coach for many years. He was head football coach at both Brookfield High School and West Middlesex high school, and took Brookfield to its first TAC 8 championship season. Recently, Reese was inducted into the Brookfield High School Hall of Fame for his achievements as a player and coach. He was also inducted into the Penn Ohio Baseball League Hall of Fame in 1990. He enjoyed football, baseball, camping, vainly rooting for the Cavs, Browns, and Indians, and railing against Fox news. He loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and frequently made spaghetti dinners for the whole family. Reese was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Thomas Jones, Jr. of Brookfield, and three sisters, Louella Platteborze of Farrell, Genevieve Gray of Brookfield, and Eleanor M. Gray, also of Brookfield He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley (Sheridan) Jones; his daughters, Catherine (Thomas) Seese and Diane (Dennis Thomas) Jones; his sons, Kenneth (Susan) Jones, Richard (Dawn) Jones, and Donald (Jennifer) Jones. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 1, 2014 at 11:00AM at Lane Family Funeral Homes - Madasz Chapel in Brookfield. Friends and family may call from 4-7:00PM on Friday, October 31, 2014 and from 10-11:00AM on Saturday November 1, 2014. Interment will take place at Brookfield Township Cemetery.
