Funeral services will be held 10 AM Wed. in St. Joseph Church in Austintown for Rich Giardullo who passed away at his home Saturday afternoon after a 10 month battle with a brain tumor. He was a lifelong area resident and was the son of the late Rocco and Mary Stansha Giardullo. Rich was a purchasing agent for Parker Hannifin Corp., Youngstown Gear Pump Division (formally Commercial Intertech) where he had the good fortune to work with life long friends. These same friends that worked with him for over his forty years at Commercial/Parker were phenomenal with their love and support the last 10 months of his life. Rich spent four years in the Army Reserves and thirty years in the Air Force Reserves at the 910th Airlift Wing in Vienna, where he was N.C.O.I.C. Chief of Supply. He shared his love of baseball with his sons and countless other boys, coaching Little League for many years. More recently he was involved in the Cub Scouts with his grandson. The one profound sorrow of his life was the loss of his son Richard II in June of 1998. He leaves behind his high school sweetheart and wife of 41 years the former Sandy Spotts, a son David (Janet) Giardullo of Dayton, a daughter-in-law Christine Giardullo Filip and four grandchildren whom he love to spoil, Nicholas, Jessica, Jennifer and Jordan. He also leaves two sisters Mary Ann Bugno of Campbell, Barbara (Joe) Williams of St. Cloud, FL and three brothers Sam (Debbie) Giardullo of York Springs, Pa., Jerry (Diane) Giardullo of San Clemente, CA. and Joe Giardullo of Winterhaven, FL. Friends may call at the Lane Funeral Home-Austintown Chapel from 5-8 PM Tuesday and from 9-9:30 AM Wednesday prior to services. The family requests that material contributions be made to St. Joseph Catholic Center in Austintown or Hospice of the Valley.
