Richard "Dick" Klug

January 12, 1927 — August 6, 2014

Richard Carl Klug, "Dick", age 87 of Cortland, Ohio, died on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 8:08 AM at Hospice House in Poland, Ohio. He was born on January 12, 1927in Coalburg, Ohio, the son of the late Edwin C. and Lucy A. Price Klug. Dick worked and retired, after 30 years of service, from Republic Steel in Warren. He was involved in many things in the area. He enjoyed baseball, he especially loved the Detroit Tigers. His hobbies included fishing, boating, and hunting. Dick was a bowler and is in the Warren Men's Bowling Hall of Fame, and he was very instrumental and a founding member of the Warren Men's Match Play Bowling Tournament. He was a Little League/Pony League Coach in Vienna and Howland for many years. Dick was also a lifetime member of the Trumbull County Rod and Gun Club. Survivors include his wife, the former Dorothy Ammons, "Dolly", whom he married on September 22, 1950; his children, Debra Kinter of Melbourne, FL; Richard E. (Judith) Klug of Palm Bay, FL, Douglas "Butch" (Michaelene) Klug of Cortland, four grandchildren, Brian Klug, Jennifer (David) Brown, Adam Flight, and Allison Gilcher; one step-granddaughter, Nicole Brown; and four great-grandchildren, David Marshall Brown, Dylan Richard Brown, Ashlyn Flight, and Ryan Jesse Gilcher, and one great-grandchild on the way. He also has two brothers and two sisters that survive, Donald (Teresa) Klug of Hermitage, PA, Eugene (Sherry) Klug of Hubbard, Nancy (William) Lathrope of Palm Bay, Florida, and Carol (Raymond) Paris of Hubbard. Other than his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Alan Kinter. There will be a memorial gathering of friends and family from 2:00 4:00 PM on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel in Cortland. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514, in Dick's memory.
