Richard F. Harvey, 63, of Warren, passed away Friday afternoon, March 26, 2010 with his mother by his side at the Wade Park Veterans Hospital in Cleveland from complications of an auto accident. Born Sept. 26, 1946 in Warren, he was the son of the late William Raymond Harvey and Evelyn B. (McAdoo) MacKenzie of Warren. Richard was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Kent State University. He retired from the U.S. Military in 1971. Rick was a proud Marine. He was a member of seven military organizations and volunteered his time for fundraising and charitable work to benefit veterans. He belonged to the VFW Post 1090, was a mason, published three books and was currently working on his fourth, and was a talented poet and painter. Rick enjoyed traveling and did so extensively seeing many different regions and countries of the World. He will be dearly missed by his mother, Evelyn B. (McAdoo) MacKenzie of Warren, a sister Cheryl Harvey Hill of Las Vegas, NV, an adopted daughter Lori Goetz of Warren and seven grandchildren who gave him many happy moments throughout his adult life. He was preceded in death by his father and his paternal and maternal grandparents. According to Rick's wishes, cremation will take place. The Rev. Gene Eason will conduct a memorial service on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 11AM at the Second Christian Church in Warren. Full military honors will be observed concluding the memorial service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers material contributions may be made in Rick's memory to the Second Christian Church at 904 W. Market Street Warren, OH 44481 or to the VFW Post 1090 at 611 High Street Warren, OH 44483.
