Richard L Calvin

Richard Calvin went to be with the Lord on December 26, 2010. Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Corrine; brothers Gordon and Perry; sisters Hazel, Elta and Josephine. Richard is survived by his brother Warren; his sons, Jeffrey and Michael; daughter in-law, Kim; grandchildren, Jenna, Jerrica, Jordanne, Bryce, and Victoria; many nieces and nephews. Richard was born in Greenford, Ohio on September 1, 1926 and resided in Canfield since 1963. Richard was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Canfield and was a past Trustee and Deacon, serving as chairperson of both groups. Richard graduated from Greenford High School and then Hiram College with a Bachelor of Arts is Economics. Richard had advanced degrees from the Ohio School of Banking at Ohio University, Ohio School of Installment Credit from Kent State University and Central States Graduate School of Banking at University of Wisconsin, Madison. Richard served in the U. S. Navy from 1944 -1946. Richard was employed by the Farmers National Bank of Canfield from 1961 to 1997 serving as Executive Vice President & Cashier, Sr. Operations Officer from 1972 to 1997 and serving on the Board of Directors from 1975 to 1997. He served as Executive Vice President, Treasurer and Director of the Farmers National Banc Corp. from the formation of the holding company in 1983 until 1997. Richard was an avid believer in giving back to his community. He served on the Original Charter Commission for the Village of Canfield; Canfield Local Board of Education for 14 years and two terms as president; Austintown Kiwanis member for 10 years; Hiram College Alumni Council; Youngstown Management Association member; Trustee Youngstown and Mahoning County Library Association Board for 23 years; Past President and Director, Youngstown Credit Reporting Services Inc. and Past President, Youngstown Chapter of Bank Administration Institute. Friends and family may call from 5pm to 8pm Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel and again on Thursday from 10am until 11am at Canfield Presbyterian Church. A funeral service will be held at 11am at the church. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Canfield First Presbyterian Church.
