CORTLAND- Richard (Rick) J. Manz, age 68, of Cortland, passed away peacefully on Friday morning January 13, 2017 at the Windsor House of Champion. Rick was born June 4, 1948 in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania to the late George J. and Jane (Baucic) Manz. He was a 1966 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School; and he retired after many years of service at Thomas Steel. Rick was an avid Football fan, his team was the Philadelphia Eagles. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, and traveling to Las Vegas. He especially enjoyed spending time with his nieces and their family dog Lucky. Rick was an original person with a generous spirit, and was easy to talk to. Rick will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his brother Bret A. (Joellen) Manz, nieces Jenna and Kayla Manz, and numerous cousins and friends. Friends may call from 10AM to 1PM, Saturday January 21st, at the Lane Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel, 164 N. High St. in Cortland, where Fr. Carl Kish will conduct a memorial service at 1PM. Richard's family would like to offer a special thank you to the Hospice of the Valley, and to Windsor House for the loving care they gave Richard.
