Richard Pennell

Services will be held 1:30 PM Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Richard "Dick" Pennell Sr., 83, of Austintown who passed away peacefully at his home onFriday December 31, 2010. Richard was born January 26, 1927 in Vienna, Ohio the son of Paul and Ruth (Gates) Pennell. He was a graduate of Vienna High School and was an Army Veteran of WWII serving in Japan. Richard worked as a Transportation Clerk for US Steel Ohio Works, retiring after 37 years of service. He was a member of Highway Tabernacle Church where he was a former choir member, a former choir director and taught Sunday school. Richard was also a vocal soloist for area funerals and weddings, and served on the board of the church, the building committee for the Canfield Road Highway Tabernacle Church and also served on the board of the Youngstown Christian School. Richard leaves his wife the former Dahlia Colasant, whom he married March 3, 1951, three children; Richard "Rick" (Candi) Pennell II of Columbiana, Joan (Rev Joel Sr.) Theis of Austintown, and Rhonda Cobourn of Delaware, OH, one sister; Maxine Bequeath, as well as five grandchildren; Jessica Theis, and Joel (Angeline) Theis Jr. both of Austintown, Amber and Amanda Cobourn of Delaware, OH and Brynn Nicole Pennell of Columbiana. Besides his parents, Richard is preceded in death by a sister; Clarabelle Zents and a brother; John Pennell. Family and friends may call from 11:30 until the time of services, officiated by Rev. Joseph Daltorio and by Rev. Joel J. Theis Sr. on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Youngstown Christian School or Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, OH 44512, in Richards's name.
