Richard "Red" H. Olson

Richard H. "Red" Olson, 82, of Austintown, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the emergency room of Northside Hospital after falling ill at home. Red was born on February 26, 1929 in Youngstown the son of the late Harry and Esther (Swanson) Olson. A 1985 retiree of Republic Steel, Red enjoyed camping and trips to Florida. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Red will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years the former Norma J. Patterson whom he married on July 23, 1955; three children Pamela (Russ) Mutter of Hamlin, West Virginia, George (Karen) Olson of Austintown and Linda (Michael) Seka of North Jackson; six grandchildren Rebecca Mutter, Donny Olson, Ryan, Devin, Jenna and Jeremy Seka; and two great grandchildren Raelyn and Makynli Olson. He was also survived by a brother Donald Olson of Hubbard. Besides his parents, Red was preceded in death by a sister Nancy Rohovsky. There will be no calling hours or funeral service. A caring cremation took place under the direction of the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel.
